Back to Cool Weather

So full transparency, I'm in love with ColourPop. I've been riding with them hard for a better part of the year and I love their eyeshadows and their lippies. I wish they used more women of color in their ads but I'm going to assume it's because they can't find any in Oxnard, CA so there's that. Now I never buy lipstick sets. Ever. There's always one in that pack that I'm like "ehhhhhhhh I don't think I would like that one," so I never buy them. And then ColourPop came out with the Back to Cool collection.  Yes God. Now there is definitely one in the box that is not the groove, but I realize I can mix it with the other colors to create new looks so I will take that as a goodie.  As with most CP lippie stix, these went on smooth and lasted a long while.  They range from creme, to satin, to matte.  Their creme lipsticks are the creamiest (as the name implies) and their mattes are surprisingly moisturizing.  Overall this is a really great set to have and I believe is currently on sale.

I woke up on time this morning, and took my dog out for 20 minutes, and made it to work on time! I am Jordan in his prime dunkin on this day.  As long as my day started off great I can take this win all the way to the bank.  Happy Friday guys!  So I am going to do a review of ColourPop's Back to Cool collection next week, so be on the look out for that!

W for the Day

Hey y'all it's December! I've been gone for a minute now I'm back @ the jumpoff. It's been an intense few weeks with work commitments but I've completed those tasks and I can breathe again. Last night I was thinking about how difficult it's been with work and how happy it made me just to think about my freshly mopped floors. The little things. Thank God for small victories. Sometimes you gotta focus on the wins you get especially when you're drowning in Ls.  Around the holidays it can be especially easy to get bogged down in all the bad things that happened to you this year, however I ask you to take it day by day and focus on the wins.  My W for the Day: "Skyping my younger sister and nephew this morning."  Though it made me a little late to work, I was very happy to see their faces.  Rushing through life you can miss these small moments and it's important to stop and reconnect with those important to you.  So for you guys what's your W for the Day?

Pop Off

I think we pretty much know that President Barack Hussein Obama is going to go down in history as the swaggiest of all the POTI.  And I'm okay with that.  Sometimes you just need to let your inner shine flourish.  Sometimes it comes out as a smile, sometimes it comes out as AAVE. Whatever just let that shit out.   Barry had to let folks know earlier this week that if you want to pop off about what he should do then u need to come with something else.  If you got nothing then shut the fruck up (he ain't say that part but I know that's what he meant).  Sometimes you just gotta make the moves that happen in life, happen in life.  Just remember that it's okay once in a while to pop off.

Gurlz, it's been forever and a day. I mean for serious. Growing up and being an adult and being given real responsibility at work means every part of me that I want to devote to things I enjoy like my blog and procrastination, take a backseat. Let me be very clear on this. Why is it when you need the time at work it's 5 o'clock before you know it but when you need to get the fuck up outta there it's seemingly 11:30 a.m. for 45 gahdamn minutes?! Shish ain't right. As I've finally had the chance to step away and eat food, I noticed it's an incredibly nice. Perfect sweater weather. Although I could rant about how real shizz is getting at my job, I'd rather enjoy these last few moments of being outdoors before I return to my windowless room. Please baby Jesus can we have just a few more days of sweater weather?

Back to the Future Weather

It's October 21, 2015. If you know why this is important, congratulations you're a nerd!! If you don't know why this is significant, you're a loser. October 21, 2015 is officially the day Marty McFly travels to the future to save his kids in Back to the Future II. If you don't know who Marty McFly is then I just can't help you. It's amazing how we think the future is going to look.  Remember Y2K?  Remember when that was a thing? An actual thing?  Now I wouldn't know how to survive without computers and smartphones.  The future isn't always what you think it's going to look like.  Sometimes it's better, sometimes it's worse.  Sometimes there are hover cars, and sometimes there's Easy Mac.  With either result, be happy to be here for the future, hover skateboards and flying cars are on the way!!

Infinity Scarf Weather

Shout out to waking up on time, leaving your house early, and still not making it to work on time, thanks traffic.  You officially can a bag of dicks.  Thankfully it's a nice day and even though I had to walk more than 10 minutes worth of blocks (that's my exercise for today) I'm happy I made it in at least before 9:15 a.m.  Tuesday is my favorite day of the week.  I've got my infinity scarf going WITH the sparkles, I finally have my glasses back and my dog had a great morning cause we played for a good 20 minutes outside.  I've got a pretty decent evening planned for later so here's hoping you have an equally fantastic day!!

Berry-Lip Weather

Happy Monday y'all!! If ever there was an oxymoron, "Happy Monday" would be it.  Which reminds me of one of my favorite racist jokes about black people in Boston but I digress.  Despite the new Arctic temperatures, this weekend was pretty great.  Had a chance to wear some great Fall colors and break out the scarf.  One of my best things about the Fall is the deep, rich berry colors you get to pull out.  Not that you can't wear these colors all wear but something about them in the Fall says "cuddle up next to me in my infinity scarf and Ugg boots" (which incidentally I think look atrocious as a shoe).  Berry lips can look delightful and delectable in almost any shade so take a chance to wear some today!!

Jacket Weather

First, my bad y'all. I have not been purposefully ignoring my blog. It is a part of my life and I do care about it. But life is a petty bitch that refuses to let me flourish. With that said, I have decided to get my life on one accord with my dreams so help me along. Second, when TF did the warm Autumn leave? I'm really not OK with wearing a jacket after not wearing one for so long. Do you know how hard it is to remember to bring a jacket? Real hard. Don't even ask me if I can remember to put in on when I leave work. Autumn came out of nowhere so here's hoping for light to minimal jacket weather.

Black Gurl Excellence

I feel like I've been in a perpetual slow clap since Sunday since Viola Davis stomped up the stage, in her regal-ass voice said what all Black women know to be true, "Black women can't be stopped when you give us the chance."  But like fareal.  A lot of the women on my squad are killing the game right now, straight homicide. I couldn't tell you what it is.  Don't know if it's being told you're not (fill in the blank) enough, or just sheer will, but we are storming the gates, glittering in Black excellence right now and I'm here for it. Wedding Face 2

I'm pretty sure I'm physically  running on E. Last night as I pulled up to one of these party receptions I saw the line and politely asked the taxi driver to take my black ass home. The only thing motivating me right now is the fact that a good friend of mine is getting married today. I know I don't have to be everywhere and my FOMO can be quite real, but I'm happy to be anywhere people in love are coming together to commit themselves to one another. Also happy to look good while they do it :)

Well Hello Autumn

If you were in DC yesterday you felt that temperature drop. Which could only mean Summer is making its smoove way out and Fall is right around the corner. I love the Fall. Especially in NY. My hometown thrives on hoodie and trench weather. A change in season means a change in colors and shades. Get ready to break out your purples, burgundies, browns, deep reds, and indigos! Something tells me I'm going to be organizing lipsticks some time this weekend just to make sure my Autumn arsenal is locked and ret' ta go. It's been a pretty good Summer, let's hope for an even better Autumn!

Petty Mayonnaise

Happy Friday guys!  One of the things about growing older and working in a professional environment is having to deal with fuckery in the workplace.  I want to be able to say that I'm a full blown adult and that stuff doesn't get to me but it does.  It really does.  And I can't say that I have always been the most mature about things.  I think it's just fine tho to be just a little petty sometimes.  Cheers to you Petty Tendergrass who is not bringing in donuts any more cause someone snitched on him. Raise a glass Petty Boop and all the mofos that can kiss your entire ass if they think you picking up the phone anymore.  And salute to you Petty Mayonnaise for that limp handshake you're about to give that bitch if she even thinks we're cool after she had shit to say about you.  Do not let the desire to be mature about shit deter you from having a petty moment.  Live Free and Die Petty!!

Summer Pho

Today's post is inspired by my lunch. For the last month and some change, I've been wanting some delicious Pho.  If you don't know what pho is, get your life find you a Vietnamese or white friend have them take you to Pho #45 or #07 or Pho Viet or whichever one you can find and get you some.  Usually, there's a pho truck near my job that hasn't been around for a good solid minute.  And I couldn't shake the feeling of wanting some.  Then as I was doing my lunch walk because I haven't done grocery shopping in forever, there was a pho truck.  And the Lord said, it was good.  Sometimes it takes forever and a day for something you want to come.  Despite how long it takes, know that if you want something bad enough it will eventually come.  Exercise patience and waiting and a touch of good luck and you too can get some summer pho.

Labor Day

Carib massive u already know what it is! It's a day off of work, a chance to fete in the streets, and pretty much the last chance to shenaniganize. It's been a decent summer so I'm looking forward to Fall!

Cherub Rub

It's hot AF today.  It's September y'all it's supposed to cool down and it hasn't not even a little bit.  In fact, I think that it might be even hotter than it was last week.  Of course I would wear a black skirt on a hot ass day and trek through DC looking for lipstick @ decent prices because I'm an addict.  Allow me to break from our regularly scheduled program: Are you ever in a situation where someone is just coming for your neck and all you can do it hold tight.  Not because you're a punk but because you know that the God you serve will enable you to reach through the phone and choke the living life out of them.  And you don't want to waste your 3 wishes on that shit so you just let it happen?  Praise be to the Holy One that it is Friday.  Back to what I was saying.  On this indescribably hot day where a skirt is the enemy I like to think that every time my thighs rub a baby angel is born.  Heaven has a whole new host of babies angels today, and God bless them.

Showdown at the O.K. Coral

So congrats to me.  Didn't realize I hit 100 posts yesterday until just now.  I'm glad I found something that I could stick with.  I notoriously lose interest in things, hobbies, people, very easily.  TGIT btw it means we only have one more day holding us hostage from the 3 day weekend and we start drinking our cares away.  And it's about to be good weather this weekend?! Gurl stahp! I can tell you that I spent my summer working and worrying about work and paying for my dog to be taken care of while I was away.  What did y'all do this summer? I need to live vicariously through someone.

Greatest Month Ever

It's September 1st indicating it's the greatest month to ever do it and we should all be excited about it. Yesterday I was thwarted by work and a lil bit of my own procrastination to post #UnofficialEndofSummerChallenge. In case you don't know Labor Day is this Monday and marks the unofficial end of summer (summer officially ends Sept. 23rd because God is love). Nostalgia for 1

Let me start off by saying the Spice Girls were gahdamn amazing.  I'm fareal. They were and if you don't believe me just check out Holler from 2009 when Geri was feeling herself and left the group.  They were still killing it.  And if you still don't believe me check them out at the 2012 Olympic Closing ceremony.  Pretty sure I passed out halfway through it.  I just had to let y'all know that.  Like Lil' Kim emerging from the BET stage like an ebony phoenix, the Spice Girls were able to revive that part of me as a young person that thought anything was possible.  I remember being 8 and wanting to be 16, and then being 16 and wanting to be 18, and then being 18 and wanting to be 21.  Now me and my liver just wanna go back to being 8 years old.  I don't even know what put me on the kick to revisit the awkward years when my teeth were too big for my mouth, but I surely miss those days.  Those were the easy days, the salad days (if you get the Coen reference you are awesome sauce!).  The best days were that TV rolling into the classroom meant 30 minutes of goof off, snow days meant no school, and a prize at the bottom of the cereal box was life changing.  Now the best part of the day will be the very end of it when I get to leave, go drink, and play with my dog.  Maybe I'll get lucky and they'll play N*SYNC in the bar.

Pink-achu!

Be fresh y'all! It's almost Friday which for some of us means payday and for others another week of grilled cheese sandwiches.  I can almost feel the fall walking its fresh ass up underneath my door. Don't get me wrong I love the fall but that 60 degree weather it can keep.  I enjoy a balmy 70 degree weather day but we'll see how long the weather will hold out in DC.  In the meantime, hold on to the good weather we have now and the smiles!

Pinksies!

Y'all I be so tired of working, jk but not really.  Today was a day, like one of those days where I really had to do work and I didn't even get all of it done, but that's mostly because my memory is basura.  The shining light today has really been my lipstick.  It's probably lowkey too bright for work but I'm wearing a black and white outfit so I feel like that's okay.  I know I've written this before but makeup really does change the way I feel about my day.  When it's on point I feel on point, and when it's trash....well that doesn't really happen as often.  As the summer is beginning to wind down I'm going to try and get all of my summer shades the play they deserve.  You should too!

I get kinda obsessed with new songs I hear, even when they're not new. Most recently is So Me Like It by Spice. But that's neither here nor there. It's Friday y'all and I'm super excited about it because it's the end of week and I get to pretend that Monday is a year away. It's been a pretty decent week and I'm glad that I've been at least able to blog this week. Gotta slide my hands up and give up some praise for that.

Y'all should already know I am dying slowly because I am not wearing earrings.  It's totes my fault today cause I was trying to do more than my regular routine.  Thankfully I have on a bright lipstick to draw attention away from it.  Too bad I pulled my hair back today. I'm going to be better tomorrow let's hope.  Anyway rather than fall into a downward spiral or run across the street and buy a quick pair, I actually just let it ride.  Figured it would be as good as time to just not be picky about things and let it ride.  It actually felt ok.  I'm not about to do it every day so you can just forget that but it was a great break from the usual. 

On the eyes I used my new Morphe palette 35S-35 Color Smoky palette and Password from Urban Decay Naked Smoky palette.  On the pucker I have on Maybelline ColorSensational Matte in Craving Coral

DisTew Much

It's the third week of August and I'm just now getting a chance to blog.  What. In. THEE. World? No but fa real.  Y'all don't even know.  First and the most important: I put myself on a no-buy for the month of August, which means no buying makeup for an entire month.  I'm on my 19th day going strong.  Please pray for me can't I might not make it.  Second, work is a real thing and I don't know how to cope with it.  Third, I love me some summer but I'm too excited for the fall.  I love me a good purple.  I'm trying to get back on the grind y'all so Brahma be with me.
