Self-Luv

It's V-day weekend and I didn't even realize.  How single can you be when you forget that? Single as fuck apparently.  Rather than fall into one of those pits buttressed by the greeting card lobby (I'm watching you Hallmark), I'm going to take time to focus on ways that I can show some self-luv.  I'm going to hit up some bath bombs, some wine, the 'flix, some more wine, maybe head out with some equally single, self-luving friends and really enjoy the time being me.  S/O to everyone celebrating this weekend!!

I need to live vicariously through y'all what are your favorite reds you'll be pulling out this V-day?

White Tears

It's Thursday and another day of listening to "Formation" breathe black life into me.  Let me just go on a quick rant about the continued fallout of B dropping a single that shook up our lives.  In the days following her single and her performance at the Super Bowl, groups of individuals (without any kind of love in their lives I would gather) are coming together to boycott the headquarters of the National Football League to  protest her song that is "anti-police" and "contributes to the racial divide."  Additionally, congressmen and former mayors are taking time to weigh in on Beyonce instead of doing things that matter like helping their constituents and finding some other shit to do, respectively.  What I can never understand is how uncomfortable parts of White America (and I say parts cause I know white folks can be woke) can become so unglued when we take an opportunity to enjoy who we are with our own definitions.  White folks get a grip.  This song isn't about, isn't made for you, and certainly doesn't need you to comment or listen to it.  Instead you should figure out why it makes you so upset and deal with it, cause nobody has time for your white tears!

P.S. If you lick your water bottle a bit you'll stop your lipstick from smudging off

Black AF

Hey y'all as I'm sure you know by now, Beyoncé came clear out of left field on Saturday to drop "Formation" on us and pretty much told the world to get our collective lives.  As a disclaimer, I am not a member of the BeyHive (I don't want to be called out for being a poser) but everything about this black self-love anthem spoke to me.  Volumes.  Admittedly, anytime a woman feels secure in who she is internally and externally, it resonates with me.  But this was a side of Beyoncé we haven't seen before.  Naturally, the members of the Hater Hotep Action Strike Force came out incense sticks a-blazing (no shade to incense, I enjoy it myself) to knock down this woman's chance to say to all of the members of her fan base, "Black is pretty awesome you should know it."  One small step for Black beauty, one giant leap for makeup kind.  Calling attention to our enhanced mechanisms of olafactory engagement, full lips, kinky curly coily roots, and the luxurious rainbow that is Black skin, black women are demanding that you pay us attention.  All of you. Embrace it all cause it's about to get Black as Fuk!

Bitch Betta Have My Black History Month #BBHMBHM

I am so behind, I admit.  Life is super hard when you are not good at adulting.  I straight up suck at adulting.  But I do want to take them time to get back on the blog, starting by recognizing one of the best times of the year: Black History Month. Black History Month, founded by Carter G. Woodson, really is an opportunity for African Americans to educate white people about our awesomeness and also to teach our babies who unfortunately are subject to whitewashed sanitized versions of history.   Despite that we still have people who object to the observance ( Stacey Dash, we been off you for a minute now) African Americans should be happy to rejoice in our history, and not just the history that starts in the states.  We are a rich, multi-colored, diverse, complicated, and amazing people make sure you let them know!

Morphe 35O palette came in a few weeks and I've tried each color at least once, and I love it! On the lips I have on ColourPop matte lippie in Nevermind
