Wimminz Work

March was real; and unfortunately that millionaire oil baron that was supposed to come and take me away from this life didn't show up, so there's that. But I did get new makeup, thus life can move on.  Life requires so many things from us: time, patience, compassion, maturity, commuting, not walking out of work, not sending in a bag of poop to Sallie Mae HQ, etc.  It's important to remember in the work that you do, to devote some of that work to yourself.  Your boss, boo cakes, lil ones, younger sibs, Mee Maw n' dem are only good if you're good to yourself, so take the time to engage in some wimminz work and make sure that woman is you.

So I'm watching the Voice yesterday (because I DVR it to avoid the commercials and get it down to an hour) and we're on the final contestant. A comeback kid. He was on the previous season but didn't make it because of a wrong song choice. So he comes back and sings "I Put a Spell on You" by Screamin' Jay Hawkins and kills it. Naturally Christina Aguilera hears it and hits the button, they make eye contact, they nod in agreement. Anyway Blake pops in and they battle it out a smidge and Christina says she wants to do a duet with homie to this song. Chile. Christina MURDERS this song, str8 body bag. I say all this to say, you know how in life ppl can sleep on you, underestimate your talent, forget that you're not the one, or pretty much count you out? All you need is that one time to Christina Aguilera on these hoes so ppl can know how f*ckin fierce you are. Every once in a while I make the fool ass mistake of wondering why Christina is on the show and then she comes in to slay my life, get me together, and keep me cute. Somebody is doubting your skill and talent today. Don't let them, please Christina Aguilera on their ass today so you they can know how bomb you are.

Reply All

So I know y'all have seen this in your email.  Right after your sip of coffee, right after your bite after your bite of breakfast, you catch an email.  And it's a group email. Awesome.  Emailer one sets it off. Cool we got it. And then, and then the group jagoff hits "reply all" and then what started off as a simple email because a mudslide of passive-aggressive fuckery that lasts 20 emails too long.  And all you can do is hope that you can stay out of it, you pray to baby Jesus to cover you and keep you shielded from the all-out nonsense of this e-communication.  BUT YOU WON'T BE! because the devil be busy even at 8 o'clock in the morning.  ProTip: if you find yourself on a group email and you only need to respond to one person, resist the urge, tame the beast in you that is calling you to reply-all and hit reply, your fellow emailmates will thank you.  Additionally, if you find yourself writing "Aight whatever" in what is supposed to be a professional email in a reply-all, log the entire hell out of life and take a 5 minute break from technology, because you don't deserve it.  Remember unless you want everyone reply, don't reply all.

Workplace Naps

Remember when you were a kid and FOMO (fear of missing out) was so real you hated to be asleep.  And then remember how you got to college and naps just became an addiction, I mean legit missing work and class to catch some Zzzzs and having the full-on shakes when you didn't? I miss those days.  So much so that I took a nap at my desk today, and when I woke up I was invigorated as hell.  I'm going to start lobbying for workplace naps cause we need them, and we need them bad.  The only drawback was lipstick in my shirt.  Workplace Naps 2016.

Wimminz Day

Today is International Women's Day during Women's Herstory month!! S/O to women for just being awesome, amazing, and all-around the bomb.com individuals.  The older I got the more I come into the understanding of the importance of being comfortable with myself and carefree in the things I love.  Trying new colors or new looks or even revisiting some old ones in new ways.  Embracing the best parts of life is another thing about being a woman I;m fortunate enough to ready for.  Women possess the uncanny ability to see the good in a bad job, the potential in a shitty ninja (no shade), and the beauty in an ugly neighborhood.  Take today to uplift a woman in your life cause we need more than just day.
